IM and File Storage Update

Last night we launched a limited Alpha release of Goowy IM and File Storage.   We are rolling it out to everyone in phases.  If you want to be part of the early Alpha, please send us an email to comments@goowy.com requesting activation.  This functionality is only available to people with Flash 8.

So whats it all about.  Below are some screen shots and cool things you can do with both.  Let us know what you think.  Thanks for your support.

Things to check out in goowy IM:

Goowy IM is a web based integrated instant messenger that allows you to message in real time with your goowy, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and ICQ buddies. Simply click on IM, select manage your accounts and enter your user name and password for any of the services you currently have.

We will load up all of your buddies and allow you to message with them in real time.

You should check out the following cool features:

1. Pop out of IM conversation windows - You can pop out an IM window into a separate browser window to message with your friends
2. Personalization You can personalize the color of each IM window or even the buddy list to create your own theme
3. Sounds and Alerts We have sounds and alerts to notify you of new messages, online / offline etc.

Things to check out in goowy File Storage:

Goowy file storage allows you to upload and share your personal files with friends and family. Click on File Storage and create a Box.net account. You will then have access to uploading your files.

You should check out the following cool features:

1. Folders and Tags Create your own folders and tags to manage your files
2. Drag and Drop Drag files into the folders you want to organize your files
3. Music player If you upload music files you can listen to them while you are in goowy by selecting the music files you want to listen to and selecting play.

Man! things at goowy keep getting better day by day. If u miss the signup page on a day, u are missing wonderful things atleast for that day.

I want to be with the IM alpha as I 've been with Goowy (beta).

Goowy is whooping butt. Only a matter of time until they claim top spot in the webmail arena. I'm still praying for those bookmarks to materialize though. Where oh where art thou bookmarks??

I love it. I'm 99% ready to leave the vibe forever.

Just one thing. I want the chat window to stay stuck. It keeps popping up whenever I switch windows. And anything that flattens the desktop would be nice. Stuff keeps expanding overtop of other stuff.

Great job guys! I agree with Chris, it would be cool to have the IM windows stay on the IM page within goowy. When its popped out of goowy (which btw, is a real cool feature) it should stay minimized and flash when receiving messages. Its definitely very impressive for Alpha release. Filestorage is also awesome!

Sorry guys, beacause I will say the drawbacks very straight.

The Messenger does not have the "Invisible" stealth setting. I just want to know if this is possible with AJAX.

If u dont mind, can u say why were with 'box.net'.

box.net is great. I already had an account.

Sorry to mention competition but if it helps, goowy is steadily beating them (imo). To see what is possible with the IM, check out meebo.com. It is a very good online IM client. Really though I have switched to goowy's so you can see where my faith lies.

now, get a drag and drop mini for file storage (box.net supports this)and it will be perfect.

Add to all of this a Palm client and I would marry you.

Both of these features look great. Perhaps I'll actually start using IM again now.

Will we be able to configure the file storage feature such that we can use our own servers? I suppose an ftp mini would do the same thing...

IM

1. Didn't have the "Invisible" stealth setting( while loging in or logged in)
2. If some one adds my Yahoo ID in their buddies list, his ID
got added automatically in my list without my knowledge.
3. Was there any way to check out the offline messages

File Sharing:

So far, so good.

1. If there is a way, where the attachments(that I recieve in
my email) can be stored in the storage area(box.net),
i)The overall storage area gets increased virtually
from 2GB to (2+1=3GBdue to added 1GB from box.net.
ii)Quick review of the previous attachments is easily possible w/o going thru mails.
iii) Because many will receive pictures, video clips, mp3/WAV files as attachments, they can play them there(in the storage area) itself. This really rocks, if it
is possible.

2. See that the files can be viewed as 'Thumbs'.

In IM: Why does it auto-fix my sentences. Like when I type "hi", it makes it "Hi." I don't like that. I dunno about anyone else, though. And where'd my mail icon go at the bottom of the screen?

I'm sending this because I just downloaded GOOWY! Great with somany features, but HELP! HELP! I cannot get in to anything. By this I mean, everthing takes me back to the main site. No way out! I tried GAMES; the Explorer registers It down at the bottom, I think It's going to KICK in, but changes back into the download screen. I updated the player, so that can't be the problem. Help! I think this is a step in the right direction! Soon, you will not need to worry about having the required items needed when you log into someone's computer. No, you will open a browser window, and log into your Goowy account, and basically use your virtual PC. Almost as good as VNC, and getting close to it!

Also, looking forward to this internal Goowy messaging system! Hope it supports sending messages while the user is offline!

Now, if only we could get a secure connection to access this . . .

Goowy is getting better and better. I hope they will get as big as AOL. I am sad beause Instant Messaging is only available for Flash 8. Hope they get better.
